Probably safer then the ones with wheels.I have a history of about five seconds on a skateboard when i was about fourteen.I put one foot on then picked the other foot up and about the time it came down on the board the board shot out from under me and I cracked the back of my head on the hard concrete.Knocked me out a few seconds according to my cousin.That is the limit of my experience with skateboards.
