Micks bought out Pine Barrens canoe rental

Theres a sign in front of Pine Barrens Canoe and Kayak rental sending people 1 1/2 miles south to Micks. I talked to one of the men waiting to pick up a group and he said Micks bought them out. They are using Pine Barrens logoed boats and trucks as well as their own.
I don't know how they'll handle the summer volume since both parking lots were usually jammed.

Jammed Ed? I see a lot less river traffic than you and I would see in the late 70's. Who in their right mind would give up that business if it was thriving? Its a no-brainer to operate.

I noticed that Pinebarrens canoe rental had a sign directing traffic toward Micks. I didn't realize they were bought out. The reasons might be personal rather than strickly economics. For example maybe the Pinebarrens owner was getting ready to retire or is a family member of the Micks. Who knows.

In this lawsuit happy world in which we live, I can't imagine what an insurance liability policy costs for a canoe rental business.

I know they had a HUGE rate increase in the late '90's, but I guess that's what you can expect in "Sue Jersey"! Hope Stevie got his price.

They both liveried the same rivers (Wading and Oswego). As fuel increased price I don't know how they continued. Bel haven had a few other options (Batsto, and Mullica as well as the forementioned) but they were more centrally located. Good luck to Howard and the boys at Micks.
