Took my new kid on his first hike today, down the Mount Holly Rail Trail in Creek Island Park. It's only about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile (one way), but there was a ton of remains of the old Burlington & Mt. Holly Railroad. According to sjrail.com, the line was abandoned in 1927, so I'm really surprised that so much is left (or else I have the wrong railroad... which is totally possible).
sjrail.com had the only information that I could find on this rail line (everywhere else seemed to just copy from them). They do have a sweet picture of one of the original cars.
Is that station the same one as this one from the West Jersey History Project?
Anyone else know anything about this?
Oh, and kid #2 had a great time on his first hike:
