I couldn't see Bob's AI search on my computer, but was able to look at it on my phone. According to one of our future overlords :), others who wore a cape included James Brown, David Bowie, David Crosby, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Freddy Mercury, Stevie Nicks, and Rick Wakeman.

He was The King.

Very cool video Slingblade.. My late sister loved him and had all of his albums and movies. Our Uncle Charlie worked at RCA records in Indiana and used to send us boxes of rock and roll albums in the 60's and there was always some Elvis in the box. It's very sad that he went so young. He just couldn't handle the fame and the negative influences around him.
I remember exactly where I was when I learned that he died. I was in a Voorhees News and Tobacco buying a pack of Marlboro reds and the counter guy had it on a little 12" black and white TV.

"Diner"

Live by Widespread Panic.

Who hasn't fallen in love with one of the girls in the diner back in our day? The song crashes right along, incongruous with the subject.

Beautiful, the girl's cooking in the diner today
Oh, she won't show the bother, even time she gets covered in blues
I sing kind little songs
Trying to bait her soul
And she's like natural music
Anyway she moves
Oh in time, time, time, I just love to watch her hands move
A little sugar, pepper, little brother wants to shine my shoes
Go ahead, shine, shine, shine, I'll sit real still
And my backbone shivers as she looks this way
And I try not to move
She's beautiful, natural
Hangin in the diner basking in the light of Ms. Lee
Because the tongue tastes so old, can't even load you coffee sweet
When she serves a bowl of lightning, makes sure you get all you need
Sometimes come for a menu, some just come in to breathe
Hanging in the diner sitting in the light of Ms. Lee
She's beautiful, natural
Hanging in the diner, basking in the light, basking in the light
She's beauty, yeah, the girl's cooking in the diner today
No, she won't show the bother, even time she gets covered in blues
I sing comical songs trying to blame myself
She's all-ready music in a booth, man, if she catch you
Hanging in the diner
Sitting in the light of Ms. Lee
Opening up early
Help a poor boy up
Open on Sunday, all day
Little sunshine rising from the park
Cross the street to the path
Keeping my teeth long and longer
And a smile
Hanging in the light
Hanging in the light
Sister
Sister

It was recently the 80th birthday of the classical violinist Itzhak Perlman. Which had me rolling thru his wide ranging performances. (Along w/ his amazing classical performances, Itzhak playing bluegrass w/ John Denver is gold.) And came upon the finale of the TV show, Fiddlers Three. Where Itzhak is playing w/ the jazz violinist Jon Luc Ponty. (Lots of amazing jazz collabs and solo performances. His song New Country played on the rock stations in the 70s.) And the cajun violinist Doug Kershaw. Which had me rolling thru both of their performances too.

Then I came upon this Doug Kershaw - Fats Domino video, My Toot Toot. I have no idea why they spell the city name, Nu Awleenz. Or why David Carradine is in the intro. :D
