Marvin Gaye, what a performer. From AI: When the song "Got to Give It Up" was released in 1977, it was split into a "Part 1" and "Part 2" for its 45 RPM single version due to its original 12-minute length. This was a standard practice in the music industry for releasing extended songs on shorter-format records.

So when he did part 2 on Soul Train, he jumped down into the audience and started dancing with the girls. It's a riot and a lot of fun. That part is at 3:17 in.

A most appropriate selection with Thanksgiving right around the corner! Among the things for which we should all be thankful, regardless of our individual tastes in music and other areas, are this site, the chance to know all the great people here, and especially, that in the last couple of days, we did not somehow end up with a naked Jerry Garcia or Roy Clark.

Oh, those late 1970's. A time, but I wish I'd not gotten so wasted. Maybe study to be a doctor or something.

I know that it's getting late
But I don't want to go home
I am in no hurry baby time can wait
I don't want to go home
Listen to the man sing his song
I don't want to go home
I don't mind baby to stay alnight long
Cause I don't want to go home

Listen baby
I know we had to try
To reach up and touch the sky baby
What ever happened to you and I
That I don't want to go home

Look at all the people staying
Saying I don't want to go home
In the night
I don't want to go home
I know the words to the song I feel
I don't want to go home
I know it's talking about the way I feel
I don't want to go home

Listen baby
I know we had to try
To reach up and touch the sky baby
What ever happened to you and I
That I don't want to go home

I want to hear people laughing
And having a good time
I want to know why she told me she had to go
Why did she leave me lonely

I know it's time to go
But I don't want to go home
You don't play the blues soft and low
Cause I don't want to go home

Listen baby
I know we had to try
To reach up and touch the sky baby
What ever happened to you and I
That I don't want to go home

Among my long list of things for which to be thankful: Ben creating this site, and all the folks here who have made it a true blessing for the two-and-a-half years yours truly has been here.

(Also PBX, most recently Bob and Guy giving me the joy of going into the Great Cedar Swamp, as well as the joy of finding the way through it.) :)

To you and yours, to us all, best wishes for a safe and joyous Thanksgiving.
