Bob,
Love me some Bob Wills. He is very prominent in a lot of Willie Nelson's work, who I also enjoy. Bob's voice always reminds me of an old Steamboat Willie cartoon... "Take it away brother Leon!"

Oji,
Love the recordings. Someone should put a out a "Sounds of the Pines" cd for relaxation and/or meditation. Id buy one. Good stuff.

I know you like some Texas music Bob. This is Ernest Tubbs nephew carrying on the tradition.. stuff the radios wont play cuz its not poppy enough.

are you sure this is Tubb?doesn't sound like any Ernest i ever heard, sounds like Hank 3 as the comment says.I have xm radio and their roadhouse channel and willies place play round the clock old country. They do play a lot of Tubb.
Heather Myles is playing a lot of calssic country that she is coming out with now. They will not play her in nashville because she is too country, figger that out.She made a song called nashvilles gone Hollywood
Prime country plays 90's country.country dies somewhere in the 90's about ten years after rock and roll.

Another fun one.

I have thius on 45:) no longer have a working turntable but still have my 45's.For all you out there under 40 a 45 is a small vinyl disc about 8 inches in diameter that was played by a needle that rested on the spinning disc much like a laser today only it sounded better because it had clicks and pops and white noise to go with the tune.

I agree 100%. Theres still a lot of new talent in country out there but Nashville and big radio wont touch them. Ive seen Asleep at the Wheel a few times live.. very good. If you like Texas swing then Im sure you know Wayne the Train.

and my fav from Wayne:

I never heard of Wayne hancock before! This guy is good Mike.Sounds like Hank, makes him good in my book anyway.

It was hard to record in between 155 Howitzer blasts on Dix but the frogs didn't seem to mind.

I hear the southerns are starting a secession movement to be reclassified as a different species from the northern, possibly even a different Genera. Some of the diehards wanna be in a new class but i doubt they will get that.
I coulda swore I heard one croak something about "gonna do it again"???

Not sure you read my whole post Al. Its the nephew of Ernest Tubb and his name is Lucky Tubb. He does sound a lot like Hank III and in fact they toured a little bit together and played together as well. I like both of them, but Lucky is not quite as rowdy as Hank III can be.

I did read the post but must of glossed over the word "nephew" I never seen a pic of Ernest that young but I know he didn't sound like him.
I don't think Hank 3 has near the vice his dad or grandad had/have but when he sings a certain kind of rowdy/funny song he is good.It has to be a song that ain't serious.he doesn't have a serious voice.I'm a big Jr. fan and my wife is a big Sr. fan.She hates 3 but i think he's alright and downright funny occasionally.

Piney Mike, you have to copy Whips greatest hits. He has Alfie carry an entire recording studio for miles to reach the finest spots to record. Al, Are you saying CDB is getting the frogs all riled up?

Frogs love Charlies fiddle.Sometimes I go into the barrens with Whip and I'll stoke up Stroker Ace or What this world needs is a few more rednecks.Next think you know the frogs is croakin time. The problem is getting Charlie out of whips recording because if you shut off the cd player the frogs start booing and throwing muddy beer bottles out of the bog at us.

I heard this for the first time the other day when my friend was listening to it. First time in a long time I wanted to buy something new. I dig it.

Jessica has that in her iPod. We listen to it each week on the way to and from the barrens.

Pretty cool that Trailhead.

I used to love a band called Wall of Voodoo in the 80's. I think the guy was a genius, but certainly not for everyone. To me, it was refreshing after stuff like MC Hammer.

Saw a great show last night Bob. Joe Eli, Ryan Bingham, and Terry Allen. All Texas singer-song writers. Bingham stole the show. Going back to the city tomorrow for this guy... Hayes Carll. Love the Texas music scene.
