Hey everyone,

I am new to the forum and it seems like a great place to get info and advice. my question is that a friend and I would like to go camping in the pine barrens, i went once while in boy scouts but havent been back since. while camping there, we would like to try to go off roading (in trucks) and maybe kayak..we were also wondering how far the nearest beach would be. so what i would like to know is which/where the best camp ground location would be in order for us to do these activites, and also how much a night it would cost to camp. any info would be great. thanks.

Camping Suggestions

Try camping at Bodine Field. The cost is only $2.00/per person per night and you need to get a permit at Batsto. This campground is classified as a primitive campground, so there are no tables, fire rings or bathrooms, although pitcher pumps and modern outhouses are provided. The campground is located on route 679 (between Chatsworth and New Gretna) and near Harrisville pond where you could kayak, and swim. Also Long Beach Island is only 1/2 hour away. There are plenty of dirt roads nearby that you can use to explore and in most cases you do not need a 4x4.

Im a sucker for the lean-to's at Bass River.. never know when its going to rain and its not fun trapped in a tent, unless you have a Playmate in there with you.
