But firearms must be allowed by state where park is located

The article title and text is very misleading because they are simply talking about individual right to carry permits being recognized by the National Park Service.
If you have a right to carry permit in your state and your state has a National Park, then you can carry in the park.
This law does not allow the average s-head to wheel a gun around in a National Park as the tone of the article would have you believe.
But then again, the article originated from the liberal MSNBC media giant.

Here is a slightly more objective slant from the National Park Service:

In New Jersey, Jesus and a select few others qualify for a concealed carry permit and New Jersey is nationally famous for not recognizing (offering reciprocity) other State's permits for visiting non-residents.
Pennsylvania on the other hand, issues concealed permits to just about anyone without a criminal record.
So with Independence Hall being our closest National Park, you better stand clear of the bell lest you catch a ricochet from an impatient visitor.

The press release from the NPS;

http://home.nps.gov/news/release.htm?id=962

These areas include national parks, monuments, battlefields, military parks, historical parks, historic sites, lakeshores, seashores, recreation areas, scenic rivers and trails, and the White House.

Certain facilities within an NPS unit are excluded from the law, the Whitehouse is one of them. I wonder why? :D

Scott, you are saying that only criminals with a record are shitheads. I don't think that is what you meant.

No I did not. Read it agin Robert.
I said the new law will not allow the avearge shithead to wheel a loaded weapon around in a park.
It will, however, allow a person with a carry permit (who could very well be a shithead) to wheel the gun around.
I would feel much safer knowing that the shithead is properly permitted.

Scott, you just modified what you said. Originally you said two things that are in opposition. You said...

"This law does not allow the average s-head to wheel a gun around in a National Park as the tone of the article would have you believe.....(and then you said)....Pennsylvania on the other hand, issues concealed permits to just about anyone without a criminal record."

So, if Pennsylvania issues concealed permits to just about anyone without a criminal record, then you know that statisically some of them are going to be shitheads, and that act of permitting them most certainly will allow the average shithead to wheel a gun around in a National Park in PA. Now you are modifiying it to say that is okay with you as long as they are properly permitted.

Oh boy, properly permitted shitheads carrying concealed weapons in National Parks in PA. That is so nice. It makes the family experience that much more enjoyable.
