I"ve always loved stories aboutTrappers like Hugh Glass and the Mad Trapper from the Yukon. I doubt those guys are really out there for the money.I think the money is just an excuse to live their lives in the bush and it helps with the few things they might want but can't make themselves, like salt, sugar, flour and maybe some veggies once in awhile. Also it's hard to find a woman that will live like that so if they make some money selling skins they could rent a woman for the night and head back out to the woods broke and happy the next day. I think that is why many trappers hooked up with Injun women because they didn't know any better then to live like that. I think Injun women back then woulda made the average white man look like a little girl. I think we need to get some of these Trappers dwon here and thin out a few beaver. I was in saelm county a few days ago following a stream lined by a few trees but basically srrounded by fields, not the place you'd expect to see beaver.I started seeing chewed trees and I"m like what? Sure enough a few hundred yards upstream was a dam withmostly a flooded swamp behind it and a lodge up a couple more hundred yards.I could see houses through the trees.I thought beaver were critters of the wilderness???
