TON - AND MUCH MUCH MORE!

I didn't spot too much to worry about 'round here. CHERRY HILL RACE TRACK NO MORE, can't be too much trouble 'caused there, what are they gonna do, hang out at the Country Buffet and then visit THE ANCIENT SITE OF THE CHERRY HILL RACE TRACK, now featuring Home Depot and eleventeen other big stores that make traffic near my apartment worse by the day? Don't know what THOSE EGG HARBOR BLOBS are. HOUSE IN MARLTON SEWER actually sounds really interesting. ELIZABETH & ATCO, maybe more Atco Ghost stories? STOCKTON COLLEGE’S BLUE HOLE - didn't know that they had one. HADROSAURUS is found now in Philly anyway, and Haddonfieldonians could use a decending of punks to liven up their lives. :D ANCIENT VILLAGE UNDER CHERRY HILL looks very interesting, 'cause if it's ancient in Cherry Hill, they generally smash it to the ground and put a car park over it.

The only one that has me worried is BATSTO GHOST IN WINDOW. If careless, thoughtless kids ruin Batsto, I'll make them eat their shorts!

Anyway, looks like not too much Pine Barrens stuff outside of BATSTO GHOST IN WINDOW (I love typing in all caps). You can all breath easier...

Fianlly bought a copy when I went with a friend up to Red Bank this weekend. There is a good article on Eastern State Penitentiary in PA, not a single devil worshipper or klansman to be found in it.

The Batsto blurb (two actually) has to deal with a ghost sighting (and picture) at the mansion there. I know that the Richard's Mansion at Atsion is supposed to be very, very haunted, I didn't know that the one at Batsto was supposed to be haunted as well. Has anyone else heard stories?

There is also a one page peice on a Jersey Devil sighting in Egg Harbor Township. Very 1909ish, the victim reported pounding on the roof, bizzare screeching, and, of couse, hoofprints all over the roof of the home. Perhaps he is getting frisky again...

Apparently people go swimming at "Stockton's Blue Hole" all the time. Doesn't seem like a smart thing to do to me...

What does it say about the house in the sewer in Marlton, and the village under Cherry Hill?

I feel sorry for you near the Home Depo. I work right near there and route 70 in the evening is tough. I only use it at that time of the day when I head to my moms in Marlton.

Guy

The house in the sewer in Marlton was a strange story. Apparently in 1983, a bunch of teenagers headed down a drainage culvert and walked for quite a ways, peaking out at the street when they could. Eventually they came to an opening, and there was a dilapadated house there, inside of the sewer. They someone came out of the house with a flashlight and chased them out of the drainage system.

The ancient villiage below Cherry Hill is actually worse. A "relic hunter" (I don't like him already) was near the Cooper River with his metal detector. He dug up a 24 inch metal blade that was semi-circular. Then a strange man in knickers with a dog approached this guy, but the man called off his dog in a strange Europeans tounge and they dissapeared. When this "relic hunter" turned around, the blade was gone, and his metal detector was no longer picking up anything.

But then there are the good stories. A contributer wrote a one page article on two teenagers from Blackwood that committed suicide during Vietnam to send a message about the war.

Oh, and they had pictures of the Egg Harbor Blobs. Blech!

I avoid 70 anywhere this side of the 73 Circle like the plauge, Kresson Road is my friend. :)

I'll have to take a walk down to Haddonfield to see the dinosaur site and take a closer look at the new statue they put up, I've caught only glimpses while driving by so far...

Could Stockton College's "Blue Hole" by any chance be the borrow pit near the Parkway where students and others have gone swimming for many years? When I was living in Ocean County some 15 to 20 years ago this place was written up as being "clothing optional".

I have never heard of any borrow pits being called blue holes, however. While some of them have grown fairly deep, I haven't ever heard any of them being considered dangerous to swimmers. But who knows?

Batsto has been haunted for years, I am surprised that Weird NJ just caught up with it. It is also one of the Jersey Devil's favorite hangouts.

Ah, living out of Jersey has it's disadvantages. Someone died in a local blue hole almost two years ago. Legend in several of the books I have read says that "the" blue hole has quicksand, and the original couple decades ago that found "the" blue hole was skinny-dipping and the boy never came up. The girl ran back to civilization--took her 3 days to find her way, and her hair had reportedly turned white. That was back when it was thought to be impossible to find it a second time.
