Great news in my opinion. I think criminals and thugs would think twice about robbing, beating, and murdering inoccent, law-abiding citizens here in NJ. Im sure purchases would sky rocket. I realize there's already a huge chunk of change taken from gun and ammo purchases here in NJ, but if we were a carry state, I'd gladly pay a little extra towards these purchases and perhaps the extra money could be used towards our huge deficit. Who am I kidding though, like everything else in NJ the money would get lost somewhere between the register and the pockets of our crooked politicians.
I keep finding things to add to pros and cons about KY. This is definitely a CON for NJ. And a PRO for KY! I came from a law enforcement background and had to jump through hoops to get a carry in NJ (I had one in NY). I move here to KY and go to register my gun and they basically say....nope, you are good.
I hold the Utah non-resident CCW as does one of my sons.

You never know. If it can happen in CA, there is a slim chance it can happen in NJ.

Quite a few people have that Utah CCW here in NJ, a bunch of my friends have it.

Go to the 'Forms & Applications' link on the right and find the permit application and follow the directions. This is the way is should be in all states. Just remember it is not honored in NJ.
You do need some classroom training 46'er.
My son and I went through Gun For Hire which offers a one stop shop of fingerprinting, photographs, required course instruction, and application preparation and submission. It takes about 4-5 hours.
We had our permits very quickly.
My club got a group rate for about $200 per person, if I recall correctly.

I have a Florida non-resident CCW license. Look at both Florida and Utah. Some states don't have reciprocity for one or the other, so consider where you will be traveling most and what states honor Fla/Ut non-resident licenses. Make your decision on that specific point.

That is on the application, as well as all other requirements. They also provide a list by state, of certified instructors on the web site. No state will issue a permit without the education. Central Jersey Rifle & Pistol Club used to offer a course specifically for FL, but suddenly stopped doing it.
A good site to check where your permit will be honored. Use the 'States that honor my permit(s)' button.

Yah, unfortunately Im up at our place in the Adirondacks a lot and NY prob has the 2nd toughest gun laws in the country. If I even get pulled over with my handguns in the truck there I have to tell them Im passing through to VT, where its all good
