Since many people seem to be curious, here's where the banners are from. You'll need to highlight the black box under each picture to see what the image is of. (This is done via new "spoiler" VB code I added today.) Try to see how many you can guess without looking at the answer.

Also, if anybody has any pictures they think would look good as a banner, let me know and I will check them out. (Obviously they should be of the Pine Barrens.)

#5 says it's a piece of terracotta from Union Clay Works but it sure looks like a bird to me.

Sorry Steve but it is a piece of pipe from Union Clay Works. Here it is. (#5)

Ben, you have a bit of talent in picking these out. I like them all.

By the way, you told me at one time you needed photos raw right from the camera. I don't know what you mean. They can't be normal JPEG? What must the setting be on the camera to get what you need?

Some of the higher end digital still cameras have a format called "raw" which saves the image in a way which allows alteration later without a quality loss. These images are generally quite large however, and the format may not be supported by some cameras. I suppose another option would be saving the image as an uncompressed TIFF file. Again, these files are large and not many of them will fit on a small memory card. Less expensive cameras may only offer the option of high/medium/low quality JPEG's.

That must have been the same ID that Ben used on the previous banner. It is somehow stuck in your browser which should remove it with a clearing of the cache.
