No county land for dog park

The Egg Harbor Township Committee has declined a transfer of 5.6 acres of Green Acres-designated land from Atlantic County, which could have been used to build the first fully public dog park in the area.
While the township encouraged the county to continue working with the nonprofit group on the project — using a different 5-acre site off Spruce Avenue — officials say a direct lease with the county is unlikely.
After four years and several thousand dollars spent toward a park at the Pine Avenue location, organizer Donna Burns said she is perplexed by recent developments

OK, I'll bite . What's a dog park? Is this a designated area of land where irresponsible dog owners walk their dogs and allow them to sh*t all over the place without the owner feeling the need to clean it up?

Building dog parks are perhaps the dumbest use of money I can think of...I just don't get them.

What's a State park? Is this a designated area of land where irresponsible 4x4 owners and others throw there trash all over the woods and tear up the roads? There is good and bad in all people

I don't have a dog in this race. But I know people with dogs, and they say one of the main attractions is a social one, where they can meet and talk with other owners. AFAIK, owners are still supposed to clean up after their pets.

Having said that, I have to admit that my knee-jerk reaction when I saw the title of this thread was pretty similar to Nascar's and dragoncjo's.

Why no cat parks, or hamster parks, eh? And the canines have to be neutered first, no doggy luv allowed. That's a pretty harsh entry fee. This smells like progressive pet politics to me.
