Evidently we need a room full of scientists to arrive that this conclusion... :D

THE OFFICIAL CPC OUTLOOK FOR THE WINTER IS FOR EQUAL CHANCES OF IT BEING EITHER WARMER OR COLDER THAN NORMAL AND EITHER WETTER OR DRIER THAN NORMAL.

But it's nice to see that they at least have a sense of humor

THE LATEST CONSENSUS OF ALL DYNAMICAL MODELS FOR A DECEMBER, JANUARY AND FEBRUARY AVERAGE IS A MR. BLUTARSKY 0.0 C.

But of course, it's the gubmint. All I need is my reliable and trusty Weather Rock and a clean window to view it.

Youngest son is in KY, weather there is calling for 1-2 inches of ice and highs approaching 20F over the next week. UGH!

He is hunkered down in a truck stop along I-24, just north of a little town called Oak Grove in the southwest part of the state. Very close to the TN border. Came thru the entire state from WV. I am his personal GPS unit

It was snowing pretty hard here tooe, more like 3 inches though. And it's becoming wetter, like it is about to change over to rain. Looks very wintery here.

Only a few inches in Mercer county, but enough to play! I'm grabbing my snow shoes and a headlamp. An evening snowshoeing sounds like a good time to me, until it starts to rain...

I love nothing more than a nighttime hike in fresh or falling snow. I took a few-hour walk last night with the lab in the woods near my house. The dog jumped a fox while crossing the golf course on the way back home. I wouldn't have seen it if the ground wasn't snow-covered. Little things like that keep me going back for more.

Trying to tie it all together:
An exceptionally wet summer.
No hurricanes to speak of.
Early cold and snow.

A new macro weather pattern?
What's ahead for 2014?
