Odd historical pole field from defunct AT&T site to be removed from Barnegat Bay

Good. It's about time.
I was up in Lawrence township with my girlfriend a couple months ago at Mercer Meadows, a very nice park made from a former pole farm. The attached link is very interesting. They really did a nice job on making trails. Many hawks in the meadows.

Other than the Ospreys, very few migrating birds are in that area from the Toms to Cedar Creek, perhaps this will help and the refuge adds a blind or two for observation, but it will most likely remain a closed area. There have been crews in there the past few months doing some survey work. The Oceanville section of the refuge has had very limited access since late summer thru the peak migration period as work on the impoundments took place; supposed to be done this month . They also built a new administration building there. Lots of Sandy money being spent.
Not sure I get how a Sandy grant was approved to remove the poles. Seems like a bit of a stretch.
The Pole Farm is no more, just some markers left and BIG 2 twin engine air boats and 1 single engine sitting in the marsh. Have to say it looks much better. They still have some clean up to do, but the heavy stuff is gone.
