On This Memorial Day

Folks:

On this Memorial Day, the most somber and sober Holiday on the American Calendar, please remember that we are duty-bound as citizens of the best nation God ever established to honor those who have fallen on the world’s battlefields for our freedom and to bring liberty to the oppressed.

So during your celebrations and your picnics, please set aside the time and keep a vigil at 3:00 p.m. to remember all of our veterans—both the dead and the living!

And always fly the Stars and Stripes and humbly thank a veteran for their service and your liberty, because freedom isn’t free.

Thanks for the reminder Jerseymen. I caught this right before 3pm. I will honor all our vets today in my thoughts throughout the day. I have been thinking of my dad today who served in the 11th Armored Calvary US Army "Black Horses" 1958-1961 in various places in Europe

Yes, Jerseyman, we should all bow our heads and give thanks for the fallen patriots who went before us to secure our freedom, our peace, our happiness, and our prosperity as a nation. My Great-Uncle Richard Eberhard fell in Torino, Italy during WW2. My father served as a MP in post-war Germany in the early 50's. Thanks for the reminder.

Amen Jerseyman.
My father was a WWII vet and served on the USS Washington in the Pacific.
The Washington was the sister ship to the NJ that is docked in Camden.
My father went overseas shortly after he married my mother and his notes and cards home were very touching.
My father was as proud of being an American and as proud of serving his country as anyone I have ever known.
Flags flew on our rail fence on every holiday and I will never forget it.
