He did take Hampton by force so hero may not be the correct word to use. I doubt the Goodrich family thought of him as that.
But I can list thousands of private companies that polluted our land and our water. The Batsto is too sacred to leave it in private hands to do what they will on the site. Supposed they sold it to unscrupulous actors.

As somebody who owns land bordering on a WMA, the way the state acquired the property is what I found "interesting"...
Yes, some of us talk DEP overreach today, could you imagine if they started repossessing property like this?!? :eek:

Eminent domain is theft, even if the victims are compensated. Just goes to show, along with taxes, that you "own" nothing. My childhood home was taken from my parents though eminent domain by the County in 1985 to expand a landfill that my mother had successfully gotten shut down while mayor.
