a village...in the pines
Hi everyone....not many photos here, but I took a short trip this past week on a couple of creeks (criks) off the Mullica, walked through cedar woods, and have a "Q" about a grass that caught my eye....

The creek....:)

Anyone know this grass? Is it Pine Barrens' or Nuttall's reedgrass? Sorry I couldn't get any closer, but this area was loaded with poison ivy...

Off to the cedar woods....I love this tree....

I vow to take time this winter and familiarize myself with shrooms...

some really nice photographs there Turtle. Now just contact my buddy Whipoorbill and he'll hook you up with some software and teach you how to warp em and fuzz em and generally make them unrecognizable from the originals:)

Ya know......I did that just a week or two ago! His work is magical... Whip was kind enough to enlighten me on his technique. Any type of skilled art experimentation piques my interest..... Thanks!
p.s. (I still need an ID on the grass)

Pines; Bamber area
I am just not up on grasses yet. But to me, it does look like Nuttall's.

I spent yesterday poking around Port Republic and Nacote Creek. Very nice area for plants. I also took a ride out to Oyster Creek and Leeds Point.

Great pics , Turtle. The "crik" shot with the clouds above is beautiful.
Were you able to get near the structure in the second shot, or was it on the other side of the creek? Looks like an old duck blind.

Yeah definately an old duck blind....which I imagine will see some "home improvement" soon. I always love paddling on back criks that "lack the phrag". Color, activity, changes.... Next crik down is boring as heck....phrag-channel-phrag-channel-phrag, etc. Okay....a couple of plants being choked out as they finish their lives on the edge. Careful on this crik if you venture out. There are literally poison ivy "trees". Identical to the growth pattern of poison ivy on the Island Beach dunes. Looks like this....

What doesn't look like this is crawling over the ground. I imagine that the birds do their share to keep it going also. There's alot of bird activity on these criks. Old abandoned buildings even if they are duck blinds command my attention every time. :)

Thanks,
