Right of way?

Guy, I was out looking for an old laser tag game area a friend owned in the mid 1980's. It was one of the two clearings shown just north of 72. But what of this long narrow block. Do you know anything about it, is it a right of way? Tax map does not say. Maybe he was illegal, and used the right of way to get in there so no one would see him. It didn't last long. All he had was a trailer or hut with a dozen guns. I swore off cigarettes after a couple games of dodging the enemy.

It has to be a right of way. It ends at the county line so apparently Ocean County wants no parts of it :)

I will start to investigate that.

In 1986 the clearing with the entrance on the right of way was not there. So if it was 1986 or before he had to have been using the one closest to Coyle Field.

My memory is not what it used to be. I quit smoking when I turned 35 in 1989, so it was possibly 1987 or 1988. I was at the one closest to Coyle yesterday, and there had been a structure there. I doubt it would have been dumped.

I don't know when the state purchased the land as both are owned by the state. If we knew we could know if he was illegally using it. That is not a good place to illegally use.

The one closest to Coyle was certainly a borrow pit at one time. I haven't been there in a few years. I was following a mc trail that enters the pit in one corner and exits an opposite corner. I don't remember any debris, but I was not looking either so it may have been there. I don't think I've been to the other clearing on the r.o.w., but I may have been if a mc trail enters that clearing also. I do remember the laser tag operation but I never participated.

JD, there was a kind of hump in the land on one side, maybe I didn't realize I was in a sort of hole. I'll check out the other one next to the ROW, I was not there Sunday.

Did you get a chance to visit the other clearing? What if anything did you find? Did you notice if there was also an old mc trail through that one also? Exploring both, which do you think was the game location?

Not yet, but maybe I'll do today in the afternoon. I live close enough. I'll post if so. By the way, a hunter has an ideal set up at the border of the first one, up on the NE hump I spoke of. He has a stand 100 feet from a nice clearing and it's so easy to walk into that spot.

Also, many years later, like 1995 or so, he put up a more proper place here, on the south side of 72. I booked a birthday party game for my son Nick.

That is owned by the NJCF now. I will have to visit and check the area out.

Whoops! I made an error. I went back today. See below #1 and #2. I told you all I visited #1 but not #2, so today I went to #2. As I entered from 72, I said "hey, this is where I was a couple weeks ago!" What happened is, two weeks ago I was looking for the first road after that long straight road just beyond Coyle. But that road is all grown over. I have a photo of it from across 72 at the bottom, along with a photo of the circle area now. That is not where the laser tag was, it was in fact at the first place I visited (#2), and that was confirmed by a relative of the man who ran it.

So how did this relative know you were discussing this?

He is actually a forum member. But since he did not join in to this, I hesitate to reveal him. He may value his privacy. I knew him when he was a little person, but have not seen him in at least 30 years. By the way, the laser tag king passed away a few years ago.

That is fine. I just was wondering how you quickly learned this.
