Slag Question

Hi everybody,

I've been lurking for a while, but have a question I'd like to offer up to the collective expertise here. In November 2006, I took this photo at Harrisville:

and assumed it was bog iron slag. Since then, I've seen bog iron slag at Martha and Atsion, and have also seen Jersey ironstone in other places, so now I wonder whether this "slag" photo really shows a chunk of Jersey ironstone. I'd be grateful for any feedback that helps me make sure this is labeled correctly. Thanks!

I wish there was a book in the works, Bob, but for now any corrections are just happening on my Flickr pages. I have a vague sort of idea, but it would need to be refined a lot more before it became a workable book proposal.

I'm on a Level 2 team (so we don't get listed in the official standings) called Schrödinger's Catbirds most years. This year we found 112 species in Morris Co. only. We've been doing single-county runs the past few years, but we did statewide in '03 and '04; our best finish was 152 species in '03. We've been doing World Series off and on in various configurations since '89 or so. We did a Burlington Co. run (as Ong's Chats) in '06 but didn't get much over 100 because the weather wasn't great. The scouting was lots of fun, though.

178 is a great total!
