Here's a small then & now. I had to watch my daughter all day, so I took the day off of work and went to Allaire State Park. I took a bunch of photos, but here's some then and now's that people might like.

I also got a small case of chiggers!!! They mow all of the grass there. Nobody is safe from these things.

Good stuff, Ben. Did you poke around the Manasquan floodplain?

No -- I had Dana with me, and I was afraid she's get dirty/bit by bugs and Laura would yell at me.

I bet it's either a Ford or Buick.

Always nice to see Allaire pics. That's where I took my wife-to-be on our first date. Walked the trail, visited the village and rode the train!

Well at least the "Now" photo's look better than the "Then" photo's. It usually is the other way around. Nice post Ben!

Well, I mean it was mowed, like your lawn would be.

The last time my lawn was mowed was... maybe sometime in late June? :)

But honestly, I don't think it matters. Obviously you have less contact with short grass, but I think the chiggers are still there. Even when I have mowed my lawn, I've gotten chigger bites by just walking 20 feet across it.

But my yard is more like a small clearing surrounded by woods, so it's not quite the same as a suburban lawn I guess. Mowed or not, I keep off the grass this time of year unless I'm wearing my treated pants and socks.

Exactly. That's why I stay away from my lawn in the summer.

Yeah, that's why I don't mow my lawn too... right! :)

But seriously, aside from the heat and humidity, I know I will end up with a bunch of chigger bites in spite of all my precautions every time I mow the lawn in the summer.
