Does anyone have any information or stories on the Sooy Family? I'm one of the grandchildren/decedents of them. On ancestry I've found some photos, but not much background info. Anything you can tell me is greatly appreciated! :)

Were you related to Job W. Sooy or N. P. Sooy? They lived along the Tuckerton Stage route in what is now Wharton State Forest.

I think Ezekiel was an uncle of mine?
Job W. Sooy sounds familiar. But it was an Applegate. The Applegates were married into the Sooys.
My great great grandmother was Katherine Sooy, her father was Richard Sooy.

The Sooy's I mentioned lived on the each side of this road at this location. You can still see the cellar holes if you visit.

There is what must be a property stone about 50 feet away from where it should be on the far back of one of the properties. For some reason my photo record does not say which property.

That's awesome! I will definitely be going there sometime soon.
Captain Yose/Yoose Sooy is of relation to me if that helps. I think I saw some mention of him somewhere on the forum.
He's a greater grandfather. I did find out where he was buried, and knew he had land, just not where.
If I can get back on to ancestry I will list the other people I found out I was related to.

Shelby L: in addition to Ancestry.com you might want to check out Family Search. This is the FREE on-line access to the records that the LDS Family History Library has put on the web. You don't need to be, or even agree with, the LDS to use the site, it's for everyone, and they have never proselytized me in over 30+ years of my using their very considerable resources.
