Gotta love the NWS. There's a whole "briefing package" describing risks of large hail, high winds and flooding, but the map shows most of our region at "marginal' risk, with a small area of "slight" risk. ;)

Of course, things can change rapidly, so I guess it's good that they are watching. I think the "derecho" caused them to change their warning procedures, since they didn't really see it coming.

Don't tell me this. I'm trying to fly home from Dallas. I keep getting the alerts on my phone. Maybe I'll come in after they come through.
Looks like there could be some regional delays as temporary "ground stops" were issued at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The storms produced a wind gust to 62 mph along with some hail at BWI just after 2 p.m. EDT. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

There was a long line of intense storms running from West to East, it passed just South of me so there was very little rain here, but it looked like Cape May and parts of Cumberland Counties got a good soaking. Severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9:00 PM

Scratch that. Because of the delays our new flight path is 15 to 20 minutes longer. It requires more fuel so I'm waiting to get more. I would hope that if you're 15-20minutes late you won't drop from the sky because they don't have enough fuel
