Suggestions for introducing a new person to the pines

One of these weekends coming up (If I can get off of work-such is the plight of a college student) I want to take my girlfriend down to the pines. She's from Sussex County and we love to have good natured arguments about which part of New Jersey is more beautiful. Anyway, I was thinking of where I can take her to impress her. The most she's seen of the pines is whatever is off to the side of the road on the Parkway going down the shore. I was thinking maybe the Forked River Mountain area (she likes to rub my face in the fact that her parents live only a few miles from High Point), of course the lakes are nice too. I can't decide-any ideas?

I would suggest The friendship Bogs, Union Clay Works, or maybe the white trail out of Batsto. All are nice and all offer there own little pieces of the Pines. High Point is great with its views and the AT, but much of the north end of our state loses ground with refineries and way to much concrete and steel.
Enjoy:cool: By the way, tell her the Pines are what Jersey is really all about!

Definitely Friendship. Always beautiful there. Maybe Oswago Lake. Washington is always nice and of course Mount. You've got to go to Apple Pie Hill and up the tower so she can get an eye full of the Pines. It's too bad that it has been so dry that the Pines are a little drab right now.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I would not bring her. If she get Chiggers you will never hear the end of it.

If she comes make sure she stays on sand and does not touch any vegetation.

Oswego Lake. I just love a water view. Maybe you could go through Chatsworth and stop at Buzby's on the way down. You wouldn't be too far from Friendship or Apple Pie Hill either.

Otherwise I like Batsto. There's the new visitor's center and lots of interesting buildings to look at as well the lake and trails. Some nice water views in Sweetwater too.

My wife fell in love with the pines after her first visit - and a leisurely float trip down the Batsto on a crystal clear, crisp October day. She later learned to take the heat and wee noisome critters in stride.
