I'm so sorry to read about the fire there. After passing that place for most of my life, finally got in there in March, thanks to Jerseyman, and now it's gone. Very sad.

EVERYBODY we came across told us we have to go we have to go we have to go. Our kind realtor even gave us a gift certificate for the place. We finally get over there, fall in love with the ambience. Couple weeks later at the Blessing of the Mullica we meet some nice people who tell us we should go on Wednesdays because that's when they're there. We're thinking, hey, this is great- we'll meet new people, find us a new "hang", etc. My hubby makes arrangements to sit in with the musician who was to be playing the animal benefit there. Everything's all coming together, ya know? Dust is beginning to settle from the move, so a few weeks later we decide we're gonna finally do a Wednesday thang and *poof*, it's gone the Sunday beforehand!

Truth be told, the food was not as good as it was hyped to be.

I agree-- and some of the menu items needed to be updated-- perhaps we'll see that when it's rebuilt.

Checked out another local establishment that has been touted for its burgers. The burger was delish but the bigot 10 feet away made me sick.
Sorry. I've had it bottled up for weeks. Done now.

Anyway-- all the nonsense with the insurance company should come as no surprise to anyone. They'll be back! And maybe even with some newer, fusion-inspired items along with their signature dishes. YUM!!!

Are they definitely rebuilding? In the emotional aftermath of Clayton's Log Cabin burning down the owners vowed to rebuild, but that sadly never happened.

Pandot, you can't say something like that and not give us more on the subject!

Can you?

Without going into specifics -- I check out this place for a good burger but end up having to listen to an obvious "regular" throwing around very targeted language, in response to a benign TV commercial, of all things.
Felt like I was in a time warp. All I wanted was the burger!
Still trying to find some decent food joints that aren't 40 minutes away, that's all. The Casino woulda been perfect, even if the food was mediocre at times.

I stopped by there to check it out and the gift shop was still open. Wrecking machines were poised in the parking lot to clear the wreckage. A very sad thing to see the burned out hulk of the Sweetwater. I thought the food was okay, but the ambiance of the place was the big draw for me. A large part of that ambiance was being on the bank of the Mullica River, one of the greatest rivers in this state. Tha lady at the gift shop said to let everyone know they have all the approvals to rebuild as zoning is allowing them to stay in the original footprint. She expects a spring 2009 completion. Godspeed.

Hoping for a rebuild myself although you will never replace the feel of it and the many wonders literally hanging on the walls. Just a comfortable place.
A little like stepping back in time but more like stepping into a time preserved.
A fine bar to sit at as bars go. I will miss the perfection this place offers for Linda's Sweetwater event & I will miss table nine.
Hands down, Tom has it pegged. That is one sweet turn on the river and in the right season and the right tide that bank lights up like a postcard.
The food, adequate on a good day.
