telephone pole massacre

We were driving down Carranza road this morning when we saw a telephone pole just north of Hampton road cut off by a chain saw. It was hanging by the wires. There was another cut partially through a few poles south. It musta been a fun night. Atlantic City Electric was just arriving and seemed shocked.
A strange place, that area. I didn't post about this before but in early June on a Sunday morning we were driving towards Hampton Furnace when we noticed a white Mercedes parked on a dead end road near the boot camp. The next day we were out that way it was still there so I drove up the hill facing it, there was noone in it , no front licence plate and I noticed the motor was running because of the exhaust. Well we left, considering it was near a correctional facility ( they call it an academy ). I was next out that way on Tuseday and a friend I met said there was an abandoned car around the corner. It was the Mercedes banged up, not running. Florida plates, no obvious blood or bullet holes and I called it into the State Police. The next day it was gone.

A strange place, that area.

I'll never forget the first time I drove down that road, having moved to Medford in 1994. Just past the "boot camp" there were a couple kids walking down the road who waved me down. When I pulled over they told me some questionable story about needing a ride down the road to meet a friend. Having just seen the boot camp sign, I got spooked and drove on towards friendship. I'd never been down there before, and wondered if I would ever return to civilization after a couple miles, but NO WAY was I gonna go back past those kids and whatever they were up to .

I remember driving down what I think was called Hunter's Mill Rd. heading down to Moore's Beach. Every few hundred feet there were bras and panties dressing up a tree. Thought it was really strange and then as we drove further down something else caught my eye. There was a large iron fence post next to a road that was blocked off by a mound of dirt. On top of the post was a wild boar's head. It was real and roughly cut and hadn't been there a long time. It freaked me out enough that, after some deliberation because I didn't want them to think I was nuts, I called the state police and reported it. I left my number and got a call back within a half an hour. They went out there and found everything just like I said. They knocked the boar's head down and buried it and searched the area. They found evidence of people camping off the blocked off road in a no tresspassing area and thanked me. Just a little more south Jersey weirdness... I have a picture but won't post it, as it is pretty nasty looking...
