Well since we're on the topics of dogs, here is mine waiting for me to carry her over Quaker Bridge. She doesn't like the grates. She loves to swim, so perhaps it was too cold when I shot this photo and she didn't want to wade across the river.

I remember the bridge when it was wood.I have no idea why they replaced it with steel grate.No sense of the historical.My dog will not walk across it either.I hear many horses balk at the prospect also.Looking at the size of their feet I can't blame them.My dog however is more then happy for an excuse to swim across the Batsto!
