The Train Engine "Atsion"

While doing research on W.W Fleming and Atsion, I came across a paragraph from "The Atlantic City High Speed Line" dated from November 1929.

"The first train to run from Camden to Atlantic City was drawn by the engine "Atsion" and made the first trip on July 4, 1854. At that time there were seven houses on the island. As late as 1859 two round trips daily were sufficient to handle the traffic."

Is there any more information that has been found on the engine?

The firm styled as Swinburne, Smith & Co. of Paterson, New Jersey, constructed the Camden & Atlantic Railroad's locomotive ATSION in 1853. She was a 4-4-0 American-type locomotive with 60" drivers and 15"x22" cylinders. At some subsequent point in time, the railroad renamed the engine TEMPEST and assigned it the road number of 3. It is unclear what became of the engine. You would need to comb through the Camden & Atlantic minute books at the New Jersey State Archives to obtain more detailed information.

As a follow-up to my previous comment, a friend of mine is a Swinburne expert. He indicated that the renaming occurred sometime during the second half of 1854. The locomotive received three boiler changes by 1876, and removed from the roster and sent for scrapping in June 1886.
