Stumbled over this interesting documentary on YouTube this morning. It is interesting that I have never heard much at all about this industry in our Pine Barrens. It brings back memories of my grandmother's house where she always kept a gallon of turpentine on hand for thinning paint and other tasks..

Always loved the smell of turpentine. For the most part, I think people use "mineral spirits" as a paint thinner now, don't they? Wandering around the pines, I like to grab a small group of pine needles from time to time and twist them to squeeze out a little juice, then take a big sniff. Never fails to give me a little "buzz". :)
