All,
A few years back I acquired a survey of the Whiting Tract, but never really took much interest in it until yesterday. Since the survey does not really tell where this tract is, I had to search around on aerial maps to find it. If you have never been there this is a nice somewhat unknown area to check out sometime. We were specifically looking for three Marble stones which unfortunately were not there, but it was still interesting to visit where they were. Our first stop was right off of Route 70 in Whiting behind a clearing that could remind you of Union Clay Works. The 1956 and 1963 aerial shows a series of semi substantial buildings and a parking lot behind them. Here is the 1963 aerial with the place circled in yellow, and the corner of the Whiting Tract circled in red.
Here is the location where the building was.

And here is what it looks like today.
Anyway, the area circled in red had a Marble monument at one time, however today we found it missing. So off to the other two locations with the same results. Bummer!
Here is the 1963 location showing the tract. The yellow lines are right next to the survey lines. Look closely! Those checkerboard lines above are now currently Heritage Minerals.
The property today. Notice where the Marble stones were. If you ever go there explore around Marble3. It is a sandstone filled area along the swamp next to Heritage Minerals.
Compare this survey to the photo above. It shows the top and right center area.
You can enter this area easily from two locations.
