Have been hearing thunder here for awhile, but the rain just started about 5 minutes ago. Looks like it won't last too long.

I was watching that huge storm make its way towards us all afternoon yesterday. Went to bed a bit early and it was almost here, with a tornado watch still in effect. Dozed right off and never heard a thing. This morning, looks like we had very little rain overnight, maybe 1/10 inch.

It's been four days since the NJDEP updated its rainfall site, maybe they've just decided to abandon it? Kind of annoying, the NWS used to have a very nice, simple site and then they "improved" it by adding a whole lot of new features such that you need to uncheck a long list of boxes just to get the basic rainfall map, and that doesn't even work most of the time. :bang:

Started raining hard here around 5:00 AM, that passed and now another system is moving through Atlantic County. Good news! All of the other recent storms have sailed by to the North and this is the first rain we've had in about a week - we need it!

They are calling the coming weather pattern a “suffocating air mass.” Never heard that one before. :D:D

Yeah, some hot and humid days ahead. Looks like the heat advisory is North of me though.

I'd be happy just to see a reminder that the sun still exists! Very few breaks in the cloud cover here for days, yet no measurable rain until this morning.

Getting close to me, but not quite here yet. I went out in the woods after that last post and just came in, the approaching wall of dark clouds was a little scary through the trees out there. Getting very windy now.

Very hot! Our sensor at 1:31PM read 105 as well yesterday. And the day before I saw 104 and it may have read 105 but I can’t be sure.

My thermometers were also reading around 104, but I don’t believe this to be accurate. I checked all of the near NWS and NOAA weather readings and they were all around 100 to 101. So, I’ve been experimenting with the location of the temp sensors and found that they can be impacted by not only a bit of sun, but proximity to buildings or objects as well as their height, especially in this extreme heat. After 6 different location attempts, I finally found the optimum spot where it appears to read the actual temperature and is unaffected by external sources. Time will tell.

The thermometer on my front porch has been reaching 100 degrees for the past two days. I don't know what the temperature really is, but it's too hot! Going out for a short walk now, had some errands to do and couldn't get out early like usual. If we only had a little breeze, it wouldn't be so bad, but there really hasn't been any air movement at all.

Mine right now says 101. It is above my shed and may be taking heat from the shingles.

I stand corrected, my porch thermometer also recorded a high of 104 yesterday. Says 93 right now, thermometer itself never gets direct sun but the afternoon sun on the porch can make it warmer than the surrounding woods in the evening.

It didn't seem so bad on my walk just now, humidity is 54% - it was 63% yesterday morning when I went out. And there's just a slight breeze from time to time today. Small differences, but noticeable. Like the difference between being slow cooked or flame broiled? :D
