Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Today is much different than yesterday. It is 7 degrees cooler now than it was at this time yesterday.

I got a high of 107 F yesterday, 104 today. I have a ThermoPro indoor/ outdoor thermometer. The outside is placed a good 20 feet from the house under a flat plywood bird feeder, on the north side. I placed my pool thermometer on the same hook, and they agree as close as I can read.

Jessica took a screenshot of today and apparently it did make it to 103. However, if you notice there was a quick drop off soon after so I failed to see the temp during the higher time.

Suddenly, there is a lot of activity on the radar, there was nothing earlier today. The storms are moving to the Southeast, so the stuff up around State College and Williamsport is headed our way. There's also a cell North of Mays Landing that barely missed me. We can use some rain, creek level is getting low and the forest is pretty crispy...

53 & 50%! I'm jealous of your indoor humidity. 64% here, I can't understand this house...
Just started pouring here but don't think it's gonna be more than a few minutes

Never got a drop of rain here. I was out in the woods and the thunder was all around, but not here. The wind was very refreshing, temperature dropped 10 degrees while I was out there.

There was a very confused rooster running on Carranza Road where Tuckerton breaks off toward High Crossing. I know of a fox that is going to be very happy.
There was a neighbor I had in Bamber, and his rooster would crow at 4 am, sometimes 3:30 am. I had visions of me doing the same thing to that one.

Yours truly was born in the year of the Rooster, as was my father and four of my ten nieces and nephews. Somehow, NJPB wound up with the only annoying one out of the lot. :)

(As for recent precipitation as measured at the Shamong rain gauge, eight-tenths of an inch Wednesday evening and two-hundredths of an inch last night.)

Big Mama Thronton is one of my all time favorites! That song is on an album that I got back in the 70's, finally ripped it onto my media server about 10 years ago. The commentary that goes along with the music is also great, at one point she says something like "Can somebody bring me a towel to wipe up this Old Grandad?" :D Not surprising that she was one of Janis Joplin's inspirations. "Watermelon Man" on that album is also a real classic. And, of course, she had a hit with "Hound dog" before Elvis.

I lost my dewpoint chart when I moved, so I copied this one without the colors. I have a black ink laser. I also changed it to read it from dry at bottom.
I was considering going down to Cape May, but I lost my appetite for it with a dewpoint of 77 at 3 PM today.

We were along Carranza this morning and it was not too bad but by the time we were leaving it was not so nice.

I was out for a couple hours and was surprised how pleasant it was, sitting in the shade out in the woods with a nice breeze blowing. It's hotter now, will wait until the sun starts getting low before I go out again.

We had something like 3/4 inch of rain early this morning, the thunder and lightning woke me up at (maybe) 3:00 AM - first measurable rain we've seen here in quite some time. Just returned from a walk, 79 degrees with 89% humidity and although that sounds bad, it was actually really nice in the shade under the oak-pine canopy. But the afternoon will probably be unpleasant as the temperature climbs, there's no wind at all right now.

Forecast is calling for some heavy rain tomorrow.
