We had thunder about 4 until 5:05AM with no rain. Jessica’s unit said we had only one lightning strike.

It was pretty localized. The NJDEP map is working today... the closest marker to me is orange, with 1.2 inches of rain.

It was miserable in Cape May today. The marsh flies were nailing me as I sweated quarts of water. No breeze. What's worse, my air does not work. Since I'm selling the 4 runner and buying another or something different at the end of the season, I don't want to lay out money for an AC compressor.

Another thing I noticed today, the tidal rivers were super high. I saw a warning last night but ignored it. I guess it was the moon phase?

It looks like some places in the pines, such as Chatsworth, received a large amount of rain yesterday.

NJDEP rainfall site is down again. :bang: It was working earlier this morning though and showing some substantial totals in a few places.

I don't like the "improved" NWS Advanced Hydrological Prediction Service (AHPS) site. Seems that you have to uncheck a ton of little boxes in the "River Gauge" category to hide all the points on the map and then check the box for "Precipitation Estimate".

That comes up blank for today, evidently because the current data isn't available until 11:00 AM. This (ugly) link should show yesterday's rainfall though, you can choose different time frames under precipitation estimates. This used to be so much easier....

Just came in from an evening walk, it's nice here too but not much if any breeze or any hint of rain. But I see it now on the radar, looks like most will be North of me although there's a cell around Wilmington that might get here.

I guess we won’t have the seriously dry late summer and fall like last year.

Storm is slowly moving into NJ, but it's moving North faster than it's advancing East, so it looks like the part that might hit me is somewhere down around Baltimore right now...

I went out for four hours today to look at some plants I'm keeping tabs on. Every time I got out of the truck I was apprehensive. After about 100 yards walking, I'd start to monitor myself and how I felt. It was grueling. I was careful to return while I still had things right in my mind.

Still, I love this time of year with the vegetation and super bright sun.

Jessica and I were out for over 3 hours today in the woods and it was draining. At one point we had to walk across a semi dry cranberry bog, and back, and Jessica's heart rate went through the roof. We had to sit in the car for a while to recover. We have to go again tomorrow.
