Guy, maybe have Jess try my cooling method. I have a small cooler, maybe a gallon. In the bottom I throw in two terry cloth wrist bands and two neck bands (one for the forehead). I then cover them in a little water and fill the cooler with ice. When I leave the truck, I take them out and put them on. Within one minute you feel normal, and that feeling lasts for a bit. I also refresh them when I return to the truck. As your blood flows past them, it cools down.

I was out for quite awhile today between morning, noon and evening walks. Yeah - hot, humid. At least at first, but I just stayed in the shade by the creek most of the time, took it easy and found it very enjoyable. There was a breeze today and that makes all the difference for me. :)

Forecast is calling for one to two inches of rain tonight, followed by a quarter to a half inch tomorrow. Briefing is available here:

This seems odd. If you look at the actual forecast, so far they are only predicting between 1/10 to 1/4 inch rain in the yellow area and just 1/10 inch in the green...

I was shocked at how humid it was in Cape May yesterday. I was in a swamp for an hour and when I came out my clothes were soaked through. It's actually worrisome, is this is how every summer is going to be for awhile? I wondered what the dew point was so found this site below. The dewpoint was 76 when I was in there, very miserable. When I left home I saw temperature forecast of 81 (feeling like 88) and I thought 'ok, not bad at all compared to 94 degrees'. But I'd rather have 94, sunny and dry than what I went through yesterday. And you know, there are way more greenhead flies when it's cloudy and humid.

Has been a long hot spell with no relief, that is really rough for people who need to work outside. Looks like we might finally get a little break with temps dropping to the mid 80's this weekend and (maybe) a little lower early next week. In the meantime, it's a good excuse not to do all the yard work I've been putting off all summer. :D

Went out three times yesterday, was hot and miserable at first but after getting accustomed to it, not so bad. Every now and then there was a breeze though we might not be so lucky today. But what can I do? Complaining doesn't help, but sometimes you just have to anyway. I'll just continue to make the best of it and wait for cooler days.

Best to just kick back and enjoy some activities indoors or in an air conditioned vehicle in that case. Went out morning, noon and evening again yesterday and found it very enjoyable. But I have no real "agenda" except enjoying nature on a beautiful day. I'm fortunate enough to have the pines right outside my door and favorite spots where I can sit in the shade and just watch the trees grow, the creek flow and the clouds pass by. I drink a big bottle of water during each walk to keep hydrated.

While I might seem to be goofing off, it's where I get my best thinking done. Ideas for maps and lines of computer code are freely flowing through my brain! Or, at least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! :clint:

I got my electric bill today for the period from 12 June to 11 July.

$138.45

I did not turn on the air until right before that stinking hot week in late June. And I have it set at 78 degrees and I use fans to blow it around. Still, I bet the next one will be double.
