Boyd, could you share the addresses for the rainfall and wind gust probability pages? I've tried to look around for them today, but so far without success.

All I can suggest is the link to the current briefing that I posted above. They update that a couple times a day, next update is coming at 7:00 AM this morning.

One thermometer says 37 and another says 38 here. Saturday looked good until this mornings forecast. Had plans.

Doesn't look that bad to me (yet), this is the current NWS forecast for a random spot in the middle of Wharton. Rain is supposed to start earlier for me down here, but the morning looks OK.

Saturday
Rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Accuweather is saying a 54 percent chance of rain by noon in Chatsworth and a 49 percent chance by 11. That does not give me much time to do what I want to do. The last time I was out there when it was not forecasted to rain I got soaked.

Ah, I see, that's too bad. The only forecast I look at is the NWS. And the only place I usually go is right out my door, which is just a few minutes walk back home if it starts raining. :)

Back in September I had something to do out there and just as I arrived is really started raining. So I sat in my car for 15 minutes and it slowed. I ventured out and was deep in a cedar swamp and it started again. For two hours I struggled through what I wanted to do. I then had to drive to meet someone not far away and when I arrived there it was bone dry on the ground. I told them it had been raining for two hours and they were shocked.

Hopefully, that won't happen tomorrow. I told Jessica I was going to go today and she wanted me to wait until tomorrow so she could come. So tomorrow it is. We may get wet.

And this morning, those numbers have been cut in half....

Oh man! And here I put big money down on a >4 inches of rain/>50 MPH max wind gust for Tabernacle teaser with the local bookies! (A small farmer has to try to find some way to actually make money.)

You know, I really am beginning to doubt that meteorology is an exact science...

Speaking of weather forecasters, I saw this episode of American Greed recently. Quite a story.... :D

Holy "weather girls!" That's some real stormy weather. Speaking of that...

According to Wikipedia, after the end of his career in meteorology, Bolaris co-founded a real estate agency that "specializes in selling homes to celebrities, athletes and CEOs." It's good that after what happened to him in Miami Beach, he was, ah, able to get back on his feet.

Read a magazine article on this crazy escapade years ago. One quote in the article that stuck with me all these years came from an anonymous Philly friend of John that had followed him to NYC.

"I used to think Philly was just a smaller version of New York. Until I moved to NY and realized that Philly was just a larger version of Harrisburg." :D

"Water levels could climb to major flood stage Sunday afternoon at Atlantic City, New Jersey, and then rise above 8 feet Monday, which would be the highest level observed since Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Levels at Cape May, New Jersey, are projected to reach over 8 feet and would be the third-highest on record and the highest since January 2016."

Still nothing here. Looks like maybe 12:30. It does appear that the area I will be visiting in a few days will be wet. Hopefully, we don’t get too much rain.
