oh, now I see it. Looks like gypsy moth catapiller or tent catapiller nest. Probably tent catapiller. Very destructive.

I think a pterodactyl got caught in a large spider web and was spun up for a future snack. I'd hate to meet up with that spider.

fall web worm. if you looked inside the tent you should have found small green and yellow caterpillars.
