I stopped by Atsion today while passing through the area and walked around the mansion for a bit. Most of my past visits were back when it was fenced in and I never got a look at it up close. One thing I looked for was the famed “P” that was supposed to be imprinted on each of the iron porch columns, indicating that the pipes might have originally been cast as part of a batch destined for Philadelphia. I was there for only a few minutes and can’t say I scrutinized every inch of the pipes, but a P did not jump out at me on any of the pipes. Did I not look carefully enough? Do I need glasses? (actually, I do need them but am in denial). Or is the story just folklore?
