Did the location you were at have the sign saying video was in use?
I was on Tuckerton Road, coming from Washington Turnpike heading toward Carranza, crossed Hawking Turnpike and I believe it was the next road that crossed with trails on both sides of Tuckerton Road. It did have a new small wooden barrier blocking the trail beyond the strips. The camera there said spypoint on the antenna. Apparently spypoint does makes real and dummy cameras, but I cant find anything similar to what I saw. One hit was from Ebay for the dummy, but there was no pic and it said sold out. I guess they sold them all to the DEP ! All kidding aside, dummy or real or a mix of both I still don't like it.

As far as seeing notice if cameras were in use, no, the large sign did not indicate that. But I did not take notice if the small plastic strip boundaries noted that at the entrance of trail.

Next time grab a picture of their setup.
I have SPYPOINT cellular cameras. They send still photos when the camera detects to my cell phone. The photos aren’t great and work well to just identify the type of animal. There is likely no chance they get reception to send a photo to a cell phone. I’ve tried mine at corn and pine dens and I don’t get enough reception to use them. The cameras are likely dummies and even if they are functioning the photo wouldn’t be good enough to issue a ticket. They are also 10 bucks a month on each camera to get the service, I doubt the state would pay for that. Cellular cameras rarely work in pines - I’ve been looking for a solution for a decade.

I may be out in the pines this week and will make it a point to travel some of the roads and check, if I go.

I used Google image search to find out the exact model and specs:
https://www.spypoint.com/.../product-link-micro-lte.html
$60 cameras, 10 Megapixel, no video, no solar panel, but they have cellular.

I've never used them before, but when I read that, I was thinking along the lines of what @dragoncjo said: I can't imagine these being very effective at enforcement. And given the NJ red light camera pilot disaster, I wonder would they even be enforceable?

Cell coverage is awful out there, and in those trees?
Not to mention the continuing expense and maintenance of batteries.

FWI, I have read some post on Facebook where there is better cell reception in the Harrisville area possibly because of a new cell tower in the Lower Bank area??? People who camp at Bodine Field say they never had reception before but now they do.

Agreed. As I mentioned before, I was watching rattlesnakes years ago far from home and was going every week to replace the batteries. Rechargeable would not last as long as I wanted so I had to buy expensive batteries. With that cost and gas I calculated it cost me $750 that summer just to watch them.

SPYPOINT have a nice rechargeable option which I have on my cameras. They actually last a long time in the field without needing to recharge. Again the reception will be an issue. Maybe I’ll try mine out in pines again and see.

I was out this weekend and noticed they are moving fast with the signage. I also wanted to verify if they were really using cameras and yes I found one. They are using cellular trail cams mounted up in the trees about 10 feet high. I looked in the most obvious place where they had a large sign, not just the strips. It was facing inward into the trail to catch anyone exiting/entering the trail. So basically it was immediately behind the sign. Be careful, you can enter a trail where there are no signs and come out where there is one and get a ticket in the mail. It really aggravates me that they have the funds for all of this now, and nothing previously to stop the 1% or less doing the bad stuff wherever they claim it actually happened.

It's very frustrating that the NJDEP / Park Police seemingly avoided any attempts at real enforcement before closing the majority of the roads as a way to justify the closures, and this is just more proof of that. The NJDEP / Park Police could have installed trail cams in problem areas to perform targeted enforcement and even put them on legal roads to target unregistered off road vehicles without closing any roads, but nope. They acted completely helpless as if it would have been impossible to do anything to stop "the damage." Now that they managed to close over half the forest to responsible legal users we suddenly see actual attempts at enforcement. Funny how that works.

All,

I had something to do this morning near Oswego Lake and on my way back toward home I drove completely up Tuckerton Road From Washington Turnpike and photographed most of the signs with my GPS showing the cords. I will post them now and remove them later after I get all of the cords on a map and then post that. However, I did not see a camera at any of the locations including where svr32 said there was one. But to be fair, I had limited time and this took me longer than I expected so I had to rush. I never walked more than 100 feet past the sign so maybe they are deeper down the roads. I tend to doubt that. And I did not do any roads north of the JCRR and I skipped a few by Washington Turnpike.

Anyway, for now here they are. It clarify's how many roads are closed if you did not realize it.

No one associated with this closure has any right to complain about plastic litter in the forests for sure. would guess the FFS would just bulldoze over or chainsaw out the barriers if needed. Interesting the camera is set up behind a barrier, would think the plastic flags would be more likely to be bypassed.

Here is the 1995 aerial showing 16 locations along Tuckerton that I found the road blocked. This is from Washington Turnpike to just before the JCRR at High Crossing. As I mentioned I passed on a few close to Washington Turnpike so it is not fully complete. Number 9 is a major road. And 13 is Bulldozed Road but only the east side.
