Why a Bypass?

They built the bridge after the road was built. There are a few threads or posts here where we discussed that before.

Ah! It was late and I wanted to discuss something other than the storm. I now see the thread from a year ago that explains the bridge and its details in depth started by Bobpbx. I should have went with my other choice to question what was going on a short distance to the north of the bridge here with the network of roads and boxes.

I would say a good guess would be that the "County Club" at Woodmansie made those just like the state makes them today for hunters and deer.

I wonder if the maze of roads and plots had something to do with studies done by the Northeastern Forest Experiment Station? I recall reading an article about the Civilian Conservation Corps helping with cultural operations during the 1930s and 1940s in southern New Jersey forests. Wasn't Lebanon an experimental forest?

Teegate, your thread about a development in the same area concluded with an experiment with forest fires.

-Teegate, you found the answer as I was typing a response.
