I have had to be the bearer of bad news to a few people who got their vehicles stuck in the pines over the years and inform them that their roadside service does not cover a tow if you get stuck off road.

Yes I know. The AAA contract says they won't tow you off the paved road. Once tho my tire got destroyed by some metal hidden right under the surfacet on a dirt road and AAA came and fixed it. It was a fairly substantial dirt road tho, not like the ones in the Barrens. I forgot why I didn't just change the tire myself...oh I think i remember...they had just leveled that dirt road and i couldn't lift up my truck even tho i carry wood to put under the jack, because the newly leveled ground was so soft. They leveled the road and left a big piece of sharp metal hidden right under the surface! That's not the first tiem that happened to me either.

In the PB incident the young guy in the tow truck charged me the minimum rate after being in there with me for a long time - I dunno maybe 2 hours - and getting his truck busted up besides. Later on his boss called me and said he had charged me too little. He was nice about it and I agreed with him, so I paid him some more. I have the original towing receipt here someplace from 2000, 25 years ago, yow.

Fire ants will crawl all over you before stinging. Then one sends out a chemical pheremone and they all sting at once. The actually bite you with their pincers and sting you with their butt all at once. They feel precisely like someone is spraying a flame thrower on the area they are giving it to you.The normal reaction is screaming and swatting at the pain. Then thats not all. Each bit grows a small white pustule that itches like the devil for two weeks. The fire ants that got me were dark brick red and medium sized ants maybe three mm long?
It sounds as if the two of us need to relocate to a small cabin on the Greenland Ice cap.:)

Wow - no they didn't do that. Both times I was wearing sandals and both times i stamped my feet to get them off me, but the villain had hidden under the sandal straps - both times the whole gang ignored my good foot and headed straight for my bad foot! - but luckily not en masse like your friendly red fellows.

But if we move to Greenland or Baffin island or someplace like that the walruses might bite us!

"History repeats itself.Because we never listen the first time."

Nor subsequent times.

I was looking inside the window of one those tower ruins in Estell Manor Park, when suddenly a black vulture appeared about 6 inches from my face and perched on the window sill. I'm glad no one was with me because I made some kind of weird yelping sound. The vulture was like "whatever" and flew off to perch in a nearby tree. I like vultures, but that was uncool.
