There's room enough for a man to breathe. One of those places that says "something was here".

Peter owns the property to the south of the township plot.

Somebody is all set up, nice camera and battery, the works.

Problem is, the property north of the road has some junk on it. This looks like a A/C control by Quasar. The bike is not that old.

Whoops, a lost drone?

I did look for a midden heap in the adjacent swamp, cause that often happens. Cedars are scarce, and were cut, but they left this big boy.

No surprise here, the road through the swamp has been dammed by beaver, cannot drive through anymore.

Look what the beaver did to this young cedar, which were only trying to make a go of it.

Some of these are big back there in the swamp. By the way, I flushed a woodcock that was setting in the cedar swamp among coastal sedge. I've never seen that before.

Recall I saw on the lidar all those mounds to the north of the open area? They are all humps with mountain laurel at the apex. That makes me wonder if they are pioneers on the top of old charcoal burns.

A hunk of wood I turned over in the field I first mentioned. Also found brick too. Problem is, you don't know what you have since it's been so long. These may be dumped items because the nails are galvanized. The field needs a hot burn in order to see it clearly. That flat spot I marked yesterday did not reveal anything at all.

I did see about 3 holes that could have been privies or something, but they are kind of vague holes, long smoothed over. This spot has the most disturbed ground, and one thing struck me...right across the road I dug down just a couple inches and hit barbed wire. Maybe a stock fence.
