Comcast Mail

Looking at that other thread I see it's been almost a year since I dumped Comcast. Fios for internet and YouTubeTV saved me a boatload of money and don't think I lost anything but a landline that I didn't need anyway.

That seems high. No comcast here, Verizon FIOS is all I can get but I pay $96 a month including all the taxes and stuff for 500/500 mbit internet. For $20 more I could get gigabit - they gave me an unsolicited free trial and I couldn't tell any difference though. My plan includes telephone but I've never used it. My cell phone is AT&T but Verizon sends me endless spam telling me how much money I could save by switching and bundling.

I pay $57/month for streaming with Sling and that is really all the TV I want or need. :)

FWIW, here's a related thread about xfinity from last year.

Same here. Verizon FiOS for Internet, with a landline for $98 per month. No cable, but subscribed to YouTube TV.

I hope I'm not to off your topic. I have comcast internet and cable, but vonage for the land line ($16 a month for vonage; I told them I'm going to drop it when it became $27, they said, okay, you can have it for $16).

So, 2 months ago, I was paying $202 for internet and cable. I told them I was thinking of going off the grid. They reduced it to something like 191. But then they said "look, if you allow us to take from your bank acc automatically, well drop you to $179. So I took it.

Bottom line, you are paying too much.
I do the same thing when I call them. I tell them I’m considering dropping everything.

I still see some of my old posts with links to @home. Seems like a lifetime ago and it still annoys me as well.

If you want, I'll send you my bill so you can see what I pay, and for what service. I'll cross out my account number, adress, etc.
Sorry for the late response. I just saw this. If you want to PM me your itemized billing that would be fine.

If I add in my cell phone bill to my land line, internet and cable TV, I’m paying $360 a month. I’m starting to miss the days of getting strangled by the phone cord as I’m trying to pull something out of the refrigerator while I’m talking to somebody, then having to adjust the antennas on the TV to get reception. Yes, many less channels on the TV back then and no computer phone with satellite, Bluetooth and a myriad of apps, but I didn’t have to put on a diaper when the bill arrived.

I won't torture anyone with a description of the 90 minutes I just spent talking to Comcast regarding the 20% increase in my monthly bill. However, if anyone can share experiences with Verizon or T-Mobil's 5g home internet it would be appreciated, especially in Tabernacle or Pine Warren's location. Thanks and Happy Holidays to all.

I have no info about the specifics of service in Tabernacle, but here is some general info.

Are you comparing 5G home internet with regular Comcast fiber optic? What Comcast speed are you currently paying for? If you're not already on NOW Internet (Comcast's version of 5G home internet) then you will likely notice a drop in speeds switching to 5G, and 5G home internet services are notorious for experiencing lower speeds during peak hours. 5G internet will match the performance of a 300 Mbps fiber optic connection in ideal conditions, but there's a grain of salt because they will throttle you when the service gets busy.

Did Comcast's rates go up 20% or was it a charge for using too much data? Is this just internet or a whole package that includes streaming, etc? I'm still on FIOS, it's always very fast and cost is still the same as my earlier post.

Same as what Guy posted earlier. That's about what it would cost if I upgraded to gigabit FIOS, but 500mbit is already faster than all the servers I connect to, so I'm keeping my current plan which is about $20 less per month. My plan actually includes phone but I have never used that.

My bill is $113 just for the internet

RJG: I didn't see your reply until now. Do you still need it?
