    Concrete Ship

I also have pretty distinct memories of it that have stayed with me over the years. Used to pretend as a kid that any little pieces of rusted metal I found on the beach were from that shipwreck (may not have been too far off the mark there, actually!). It does look much smaller in the top photos...

Medford Historical Society and Dr. Still legacy

Just wanted to share this really great article I came across today on nj.com (actually found via the Facebook page for Lines on the Pines!): http://www.nj.com/burlington/index.ssf/2016/02/the_hidden_endangered_history_of_the_black_doctor.html I'm always heartened to read about initiatives like...

Looking for info on an abandoned/collapsed house (?) just off Stokes Road in Indian Mills

Don, thanks so much for all this. So wonderful to see the site uncovered and honored, and to have a story to put to these places aside from my own childhood impressions. Definitely worth a walk down the old path through the woods to revisit when I'm home next time, I think!

    The NEW Beer Thread

I just came across these guys and wanted to share here - Wharton Brewing in Indian Mills! I'm coming home for the holidays...hoping they're open by then so I can give it a try. Located right by Indian Mills Pizza (formerly the old general store). They have one called the Cedar Water Stout :)

Looking for info on an abandoned/collapsed house (?) just off Stokes Road in Indian Mills

Wow, super interesting info! Lots of history there, thanks so much for sharing. I had actually wondered if there was a Still connection there somewhere...we grew up with stories of the cemetery nearby, and one of my older brothers suspects he may have come across it once or twice in his...

Looking for info on an abandoned/collapsed house (?) just off Stokes Road in Indian Mills

Hello all, Apologies if this has already been posted about, but I'm wondering if anyone has any information or stories to share about this abandoned (and now mostly collapsed) building located in the middle of a field just off Stokes Road in Indian Mills. This was super close to where I grew...

Review – The Domestic Life of the Jersey Devil

Just adding my own +1 here - it's an awesome read! I might be a little biased though. Had the honor of sharing table space with the author at Lines on the Pines this past year. Hello again neighbor! :)

    A writer has a question

I don't have an answer for your questions, unfortunately... but just want to say good luck! I'm a writer too, Pinelands born and bred - my novel came out this past Fall, and also takes place in the Pine Barrens. I suspect our plots are a bit different, but always nice to find a kindred spirit! :)

    Lines on the Pines 2015

Coming up on March 8! Who's planning on going this year? Anyone else exhibiting? This will be my first year (I'll have a table there with my book, The Truth and the Life), and I'm super excited to be a part of this event. I'd love to meet some of you if you happen to be going! :)...

A new historical novel set in the NJ Pine Barrens - The Truth and the Life

Hi Tracker Jim - no, I actually had no idea this existed! How funny. Wonder if it was out of print and/or in the public domain before its current publisher, Literary Licensing, picked it up. I'm definitely going to have to give it a read. Thanks for the tip!

The Black Doctor of the Pines

Just stumbled on this - thanks for sharing! I was told as a kid that he was supposedly buried very close to my childhood home in Indian Mills, next to an old farm field that is now a development...but I suspect that probably wasn't actually the case...
