    RAIN?

I hope you're saying the same thing this time tomorrow. Water was already high in Forked River at noon.

    Where is this?

The boards are in and the water is still very low.

    RAIN?

As today is my daughter's 10th birthday the weather is very similar. Though it was a different track I spent most of the day in the hospital listening to the windows rattle. I was a Labor Day washout , at least the first half, just like this one. http://www.weather.gov/phi/09042006wss

    RAIN?

I left Las Vegas with a hurricane coming up making landfall around Virginia. I was afraid that the flight would be canceled. To my surprise it wasn't. To quote my flight attendant " It's only wind and rain....that's nothing". Surprisingly it was a very smooth ride until the final approach which...

    Road Maintenance

That's the most common way of diverting water off the road. Culverts are needed for moving water but standing puddles just need a place for the water to go.

    Road Maintenance

We need some rain to pack down all the fill. Everything is still very soft. I've only been down Tremont and part of Burnt Mill just to go to soccer. The FFS did a good job on what I've seen so far. I'm curious about beaver dam but I'm sure they spent a lot of time there.

I know its not even in this country but it's interesting and includes giant hogweed. Which can leave blisters on a person up to 7 years:confused:

    Firebreaks Explained

Yes. They should. That's the reason Sandy Causeway was widened as well last year. It creates a "defensable" line. Most people think those little plow lines are fire breaks. While that's what they are used for during control burns they provide little help and are rarely used during a forest fire.

    Winslow WMA Crackdown !

Maybe this one? It's been 20 years since I've been there but it looks similar. http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.69380784516863&lng=-74.920029822998&z=13&type=nj2012&gpx=

    Canoe Signs

By reading what I posted earlier it seems to be the state DOT is footing most of the bill, but I'm sure their using Federal funds to off set it. With the signs not matching the the originals proto types they are to confusing. To me they look more like piney art and will likely be decorating...

    Canoe Signs

Or at least posted the whole proposed sign. I can see people driving all over looking for the canoe launch:D

    Canoe Signs

Yes I did. If I didn't see the post on Facebook and do some research from there I'd still think it had something to do with canoes.

    Canoe Signs

I've seen these posted on Facebook too. In one of the pictures there's a sign under the canoe that reads "Pine Barrens Byway". Looks like they are just posting the scenic roads through the pines and have nothing to do with canoes. http://www.nj.gov/pinelands/landuse/recent/byway/

    Off-road charges

I give all the officers that patrol back there a lot of credit. Anything can happen out there and help isn't just around the corner. I'm glad to hear all ended well.

    Road Maintenance
