    Pole Bridge

No, none there. That is a tangled mess downstream from 70. Also went from Country Lakes to the Mount Misery Brook with a few guys and a case of beer. Another tangled mess.

    Pole Bridge

Vaguely, yes. I once canoed from 70 to Mary Ann, or the A-frame that used to be upstream from Mary Ann. Just rotted poles, if anything. This was almost 45 years ago.

Wharton State Forest 1966 Visitor Map nearly identical to 2024 draft Visitor Map

In your opinion? I'll bet you tried to sell that to the State early in the process and they said: "Get real Jason, the public is smarter than that. We'd never hear the end of it."

Wharton State Forest 1966 Visitor Map nearly identical to 2024 draft Visitor Map

Jason, how about breaking down the below statement to make it clear what you mean. And, is this 'creation' that is 'underway' something that outside organizations such as PPA are participating in? Who is helping?

Wharton State Forest 1966 Visitor Map nearly identical to 2024 draft Visitor Map

That would be me. Give me unfettered access and my own criteria and with no right by anyone to turn over my decisions, and I'll get it done.

    Where is this?

That is quite a tree John. Some type of oak, maybe even an old white oak. I'll be interested to hear where it is. Probaly somewhere over by Jackson Road.

    Where is this?

What did they do there, dump coal for some use in town?

NJ bag ban causing more plastic use

I'll just drop this right here. https://www.wbgo.org/news/2024-02-27/an-industry-study-about-new-jerseys-plastic-bag-ban-is-an-example-of-how-to-stay-vigilant-against-misinformation

    NJ Fire Danger Dashboard

Boyd, that fire dashboard could be a sticky thread to a "local weather" forum. Did you and Ben ever discuss that possibility, of a local weather forum?

    Where is this?

Where is this. Just outside the pines. Old RR trestle. Looks like they had an interpretation plaque at one time. I know one person who can identify it in an instant.

    Music for the day

Heard on my Ipod today just south of the Forked River Mountains and North of Wells Mills (use the red play button in center, not you tube). Daddy made whiskey and he made it well. Cost two dollars and it burned like hell. I cut hick'ry just to fire the still, Drink down a bottle and be ready to...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Boyd, is there an option to make this light green a different color with more contrast?

HERE maps - possible changes coming

I think your plan is sound; remove the 3D from the menu. I don't use them intentionally.

Busy beavers gnawing away at New Jersey man’s patience, one tree at a time

I have a different take on this. The community should certainly chip in and set things to right. They have equipment and muscle. I don't ever see anyone out there when I go. One reason is because the entrance is so obscure it looks like a person's yard. But really, I see this all the time. I did...

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

No, we did not get to that spot. If you look at the trip link, it shows where we planned to cross by. As to what they are, it's odd that the road has a go-around there, right? Maybe they just stole dirt from there to fill in a very wet road.

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

By the way, in looking at John's area by Jemima Mount, I found something useful if you use Edge (and maybe others). I wanted to try and track the roads that go by Jemima in the 2024 MAP they propose, but there are no landmarks on that map. So I opened the 2024 MAP on this site (Ben's), and right...

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

We went by that one on a PBX explore John. Maybe I can come with you and your son if you go check it out. That's a wonderful area to be in. PS: that is an awfully low spot for this kind of stone. Guy, you have a video in post (3?) of Ted in the link below. Do you still have that one...

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

This reminds me Boyd. When I was fooling around trying to figure out which rectangles to look at on the Vermeule historical map on Bens site, he has #85 missing, or I'm missing something.

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

Interesting. If I interepret that newsletter correctly, that was gravel desposited later than the Cohansey sands, that is to say, the Bridgeton River Plain.

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

And yet the field is quite level, not a hill? Makes me wonder if they were from the Bridgeton formation cited in the article.
