I stopped short of posting on the North, South, Central Jersey thread but my answer would be the same as for this one. There isn't an answer. There are just opinions. There might have been a clearer definition some time ago but the term has been around too long and has evolved too much to be cut...

Checked them out the other night. More of a family outing than serious shopping. I picked up a fly rod case that isn't available anyplace closeby. I much prefer to give my money to locally owned small shops than any of the big boxes anyway.

The liveries serving the rivers you are interested in might be the best sources of the information you are looking for, assuming they are not still closed for the season. They keep pretty good tabs on the conditions since they tend to do most of the clearing.

Very cool! I often cite things such as this among the reasons I hunt. It's not so much about the kill, which is the tiniest part of the overall experience, but all the other things you witness that you would not likely see under any other circumstances.
