Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I was looking at radar when an intense cell was centered over Medford, so I'm not surprised. The really heavy stuff just missed me down here, but we caught part of a smaller band. Really didn't last very long - less than a half hour - but we got about 1/2 inch during that time. Out for a walk...

Nothing but a sprinkle today and no more than 1/10 inch yesterday here.

    Bass River Fire

We got enough to wet the ground here and no more, I'd guess 1/10 inch or less - hardly anything in my wheelbarrow this morning. Did a short drive through Peaslee, wasn't enough to put any water into the dry puddles although it did help with the dusty roads (but they will quickly dry out).

    interesting old book i found.

That is a terrific film. A friend gave me this poster more than 20 years ago, it still hangs on my wall. :) I have a funny story about meeting Kitty Carlisle (Hart) while working for Syracuse Opera back in the 1980's. At that time, she was on the board of NYSCA (NY State Council on the Arts)...

I wouldn't say "always"... look at Route 206 around Atsion https://boydsmaps.com/pines/#17/39.745557/-74.726301/parcels07/0/0/ Hampton Road is also way off. https://boydsmaps.com/pines/#17/39.756004/-74.694458/parcels07/0/0/

    Bass River Fire

No more than a sprinkle here so far. There's a system coming into Delaware now that might come this way. Or not.

    Bass River Fire

A cell just went through Hammonton, but it was moving pretty fast so probably not much rain. I went out for a walk, to wait for the storm in the woods. Trees started whipping around pretty wild in the wind so I headed back and got a little wet as the rain started. Turned out to only be a...

    Bass River Fire

Have been watching this storm slowly move our way all day, it's finally knocking on our door. If it keeps moving slow, maybe we'll get significant rain? https://boydsmaps.com/nexrad/#8/39.6388/-75.5753

Introducing the new 3d Terrain Viewer

The update is online now. I didn't do any timing, but think it loads much faster now. Instead of just waiting a long time to be sure all the data has loaded, the new code can tell when the data finishes loading and finish up immediately. I can probably tweak this for even better performance, but...

Introducing the new 3d Terrain Viewer

FWIW, finally tried testing the terrain viewer on my iPad 6th generation running iPadOS 16.5. After going through the map loading process, it crashed with a message about repeated errors. This did not surprise me, as I didn't really expect it to work on an iPad or a phone. But you might have...

Introducing the new 3d Terrain Viewer

OK, found that bug. Everytime you change maps in the viewer, it adds another crosshairs! That is a straightforward fix, but going to wait until later today when I have some more time. Will also try to speed up map loading and will roll it all into an app update later today. In the...

Introducing the new 3d Terrain Viewer

Something odd is going on in your top screenshot... there are four crosshairs and there should only be one. That is a bug I have seen before, possibly caused by switching map types or sizes a bunch of times. Have also seen it load more than one 3d surface at a time (you can see this in 3d mode...

Introducing the new 3d Terrain Viewer

I locked out rotation in 2d, didn't see the point? If you want to do that, just use 3d view and tilt straight down. The line is caused by errors in the terrain data. I wrote a bit about this in the help file. In the Pines, I suggest using the high error correction setting, it will fix quite a...

Introducing the new 3d Terrain Viewer

The new app is now online. Kind of a difficult birth, there are many complex things happening at the same time in this app that depend on each other. While everything worked fine on my development server, everything was much slower running live on the internet. This caused lots of errors, with...

    Math anxiety

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about any of this, you're taking Ben's post out of context. That was written in response to several threads that got out of hand with political bickering, personal attacks and other inappropriate behavior. Aside from a short time at the beginning of the...
