Decent Tripod for Spotting Scope ?

Thats funny. I have the same problem. My buddy works in NYC and said the store in phenomenal, and worth the trip to the city. Just can't bring myself to go. Much cheaper to stay away too, not sure I could leave that 500Lf/4 sitting in the store with out a home.

Decent Tripod for Spotting Scope ?

Personal preference must play a role because I would approach from the opposite direction - ball head for static and pan tilt for movement. That said, a good pan/tilt shouldn't need to be locked down. The tension can be set to allow the head to hold the scope stationary while still allowing the...

Decent Tripod for Spotting Scope ?

Pan and Tilt for scopes for sure. I use the same tripod for both photography and when using the spotting scope - just switch out the head depending on what I am doing.

    Bear or bobcat track?

Also, the print appears to be quite round, with fairly sharp edges, vs the softer pad + digits in the pics of the bear prints

    Bear or bobcat track?

Im sure someone here will be able to identify. Its hard to get size perspective from your photo - can you estimate the diameter? I would think a black bear cub would have a smaller print then a horse, and a bobcat would be even smaller? take a look at the picture in this link...

    Bear or bobcat track?

Ahh, you beat to the punch. Had to dig through my archives but couldn't find, so i snapped a pic of a print. Here is a big bear print in sand:

    Bear or bobcat track?

I don't think that is a bear. Bears have a padded foot with 5 digits that is almost human like. Cant say that Ive even seen a bobcat print, but i think they only have 4 digits and would be considerably smaller then any bear print ive seen. Almost looks hooved to me. based on that picture, id...

    This effects us all

The same ones that passed the law encouraging pedestrians to walk out in traffic. Makes me think, I wonder if the lobby for personal injury lawyers are behind both laws.

    This effects us all

I agree the current law needs to be changed. Need to be real careful about implementing any changes though if they don't want to create a bigger problem - I think the current proposal will just confuse the issue more. Personally, I think pedestrians should be required to signal their intent to...

    RAIN?

Seems like things are at least moving in the right direction when compared against where we were in November. Hopefully it keeps improving.

    B&H Photo in NJ

All of you may want to go back and check with your accountants - NJ Sales and Use Tax is (and has always been) required to be paid on mail order and internet purchases. B&H is just making it easier by collecting it for you now. I sure hope all of you have not been cheating the state out of...

Odd historical pole field from defunct AT&T site to be removed from Barnegat Bay

Not sure I get how a Sandy grant was approved to remove the poles. Seems like a bit of a stretch.

[PPA] Park Police Need Tools to Combat ORV Abuse

Bob - Please don't think I was trying to disparage any of the good Byrne did, and he did do a lot of good for south Jersey. Let's just say I find it disappointing to see his name allowed to be used for fundraising by an organization such as the PPA.

[PPA] Park Police Need Tools to Combat ORV Abuse

Brendan Byrne is the honorary chair of the PPA board of trustees, and his son Timothy is also one of their trustees (PPA Trustees). In my mind that would mean he is implicitly involved in what is going on. What makes you think they are trying to serve the community? I think it's more like...

Deal struck to hike NJ gas tax 23 cents

Circular reference mentioned in post #67 confirmed. Are they making money off the backs of fellow citizens or now stuck paying more for their own retirements? TTF beefs up ability to sell bonds directly to state pension funds
