    Deep Run Again

Great response GermanG! I can see that your time at RU Cook College was well spent, as was mine. Doctors Ehrenfeld, Wolgast and Applegate would be proud! Droughts are all part of the global ecosystem. Right now, species that prey on fish in Deep Run are living large but they will have to move...

    Deep Run Again

Something like that would be more in the realm of Fish and Wildlife. I believe it's too late to do anything now and I also believe that the logistics are monumental. Workers would have to walk the interior of these immense bogs on foot and collect fish from puddles with nets and buckets. The...

    Deep Run Again

As it turns out, I have Windows 11 Home. So, no built-in resizer.

    Deep Run Again

Ed, Do you mean Windows 10? I just confirmed that I have Windows 11 in work and I have the resize option with just a right click on a photo.. I am pretty certain I have Windows 10 at home and I suppose that may be the problem. Boyd's advice is very good too. With Windows 10 just right click a...

    Deep Run Yet Again!

Took a ride out to Deep Run on Saturday for a quick hike with family. My wife, my son MIke, his wife Alex and her father made the trip along with two of my grandsons, 3 year-old Sage and his 6 month-old baby brother Ford were on the outing. Sage is a veteran hiker and has hiked since he could...

    Deep Run Again

That's exactly what I see when I right click on any dumped photos on my work computer. Hmmmm. I'll have to discuss with one of the youngsters in the office.

    Deep Run Again

Thanks Boyd! That light bulb just went off when I was a few beers in while sitting at Brotherton Brewing. I remembered that e every time I email myself a few photos, it prompts for size. When I dump a lot of photos into my desktop I connect the phone by usb and put them in a folder and then...

    Deep Run Again

You beat me to it Guy. I’m gonna post some of my pictures from yesterday as soon as I can find a decent program to dumb them down in size. The one I use at work is part of Windows. I can’t figure out why I don’t have the same thing in my Windows at home. I tried Adobe express today and it looks...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I hunted back here this morning with one of my son’s friends. I like a challenge and I usually hunt the stream. The bog is way too busy on opening day. It was a beautiful and quiet morning and while I was setting a few decoys under the moonlight, a Barred Owl was sounding off in the distance...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

It was opening day of the first part of waterfowl season for the South Zone Guy. Open until next Saturday, closes and then reopens November 23 and closes January 23, 2025. I wouldn't worry about wearing blaze orange unless you look or walk like a duck. :)...

Increased risk of fire spread today

Strong smoke smell at our house last night. My wife wasn't convinced that it was the Burlington County fires and kept checking the woods for a glow. No smoke smell this morning.

    Closing West Mill Road

Even more ironic is that the actual access road was/is just a road cutting through State lands with no dedicated right-of-way. That may or may not have been addressed by now by way of an easement. Tax maps still show nothing.

    Closing West Mill Road

I hate to revive this post that brings back very frustrating and disappointing memories, but I thought I would let others know that there is now a 24"+/- diameter pine dropped purposely across the entrance to West Mill Road at the edge of 206. I am thinking that it might be a temporary blockade...

    Hiking along Central Jersey line

I visit that trestle area pretty often. Hard to believe some J%rkoff thought it would be cool to set it on fire. My son shot his first Wood Duck there with a single shot 20 gauge 50 yards downstream from the trestle. My son hunkered down in the wet meadow grass and pass shot the duck. Not bad...

large block off RR in Atsion?

Here is a view looking north toward Atsion Lake Rec entrance. Jersey Central tracks are visible on east side. The tracks were paved over regularly over the years and then removed completely 10-15 years ago.

large block off RR in Atsion?

There were never any tracks north of the lake. The lake is north of what used to be two separate crossings across 206. I moved the crosshair into that spot. https://boydsmaps.com/#15.00/39.737058/-74.725769/vermeule/0.00/0.00

large block off RR in Atsion?

That is the Raritan Atco-Atsion Spur. The railbed later became what is now Raritan Avenue in Atco. It's all dirt from te beginning of Wharton and srossed 206 near the Atsion Re arae driveway. Here's an old thread: https://forums.njpinebarrens.com/threads/spur-from-atsion-to-atco.1832/ The 1870...

    Music for the day

My mother loved that song and she loved to sing along to it. She had a beautiful voice and she could sit down at a piano and play songs by ear. She also loved anything sung by Eddy Arnold. I can still hear her singing Make My World Go Away.

    Music for the day

I learned a life lesson from that song Boyd. I developed the habit of always selecting my cleanest dirty shirt before leaving the house!
