    Speed Bump

I grew up in Medford and can relate to what Boyd is saying. I went to HS out of town (late 70's into early 80's). In my first year I was a hick or a piney. By senior year it was, "you live in Medford, you must be rich", even though we lived in the same house. They used to call it Little Cherry...

    'Hawkin Swamp, a PBX Hike.

Must've missed this one. Great report along with awesome photos. That millstone is a one in a million find. Great job! These are the type of threads that this site is all about! Thanx! John-

Thanx for sharing this, Guy. I really enjoyed this (late)! John-

    Wharton Forest fire 4/6/13

Al, that's the way I would have went, but the other vehicle I was with would NOT have taken that way. They thought Carranza Rd between the monument and Friendship was off-roading. Come to think of it, they probably would have been pissed about how bad the Friendship-Speedwell Rd is. :) John-

    Wharton Forest fire 4/6/13

We were out along the Featherbed Branch area yesterday and saw the smoke on our way out. At 8:10 pm, the FFS stopped us at Moore's Meadow Rd and told us to proceed very slowly with our 4-ways on. When we reached the bend near the end of the Wharton, at Hampton Gate, we saw that the top of the...

    Shooting range @ Murphy's pit.

I remember shooting out back of Murphy's in the early '80's. It was never an official range, just a place to shoot while the guys up front road their bikes and some played in that one big mud hole with their lifted trucks. That's when Murphy's Pit used to be fun! John-

So what are you doing for Valentines Day?

I'm going to Wendy's with my make believe girlfriend! ;) What are you doing?

    Another Deer Tick Disease

I must admit, after the first report on this, I was a little skeptical. But, then I tried this method on ticks, more than once (including nymphs), with good success. But this past spring, when my daughter noticed many of the red spots on her leg were "moving", I quickly dug out the lint brush...

    Remembering Howard Boyd

Awesome article... his Field Guide will always be my first (and best) PB publication. Absolutely, no offence intended! John-

    Friendship Bogs

These are some really nice photos, Al. I love Friendship too, it's one of my favorite places, also. For some reason, though, I thought these pics would be from the middle of the bogs, looking in towards land... judging from most of your posts. :D Glad to hear the pup's OK. She sounds like a...

Interviews for Karen Riley's New Book

Russ was one of the People of the Pines. Curious to know if Karen is seeking out all new folks or perhaps some of the same. John-

    Superbowl Pre-Game In the Pines

Seems ironic that there's stripes on the back of the fish on the window; and there's soon to be stripes on your son's back... judging by mom's demeanor! I like the way he's using the door as a buffer in the 3rd photo. :)

    2013 Lines On The Pines

I saw a bunch of rasca... err, fellas in the parking lot last year, but was afraid to approach them due to their ominous look! If only I had known. :guinness:

    Cedar Bridge Tavern on TV

I watched this episode last night "On Demand" on Comcast. The two hosts are a little too wacky for my liking and they spent more time in Cape May than they did at Cedar Bridge, but it was an interesting episode, anyway. It was neat to see the tavern on TV, and I appreciated the way they did not...

    Pine Barren Exploring Trip

Absolutely, Bob! I meant to put the :D after that statement in my post, but I forgot. I apologize if it came off that way and hope other folk don't take it too seriously. I really enjoyed the waiver. Your subtle humor was very obvious to me, but perhaps not so much to others. John-

    Sally Star has died

Sorry to hear this. The kids and I would sometimes stop for ice cream at her shop on Jackson Rd. Her pizza shop was also a victim of fire a few years back. Spottted a couple other Philly legends in the video, Chief Halftown and Captain Noah. Sherman really set the "way-back" machine on this...

    Pine Barren Exploring Trip

That whole "ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISK/ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY" kinda scared me off. Besides, I'll be working that day. BTW, nice reference, Scott! John-
